ViaMont is a small family business founded by Mr. Rybak in early 70's. It all started from Mr. Rybak's passion for climbing. During communistic reign in the former Czechoslovakia, climbers had difficulties in getting the gear they needed. Traveling across the borders to visit our western neighbors wasn't an option, unless you did not mind spending several years in prison. Climbers were, most of the time, left with whatever was available within our small country. As Mr. Rybak loved climbing and his life too much, he decided to make his own gear. He has always managed to put his own climbing experience into every piece he has designed. Some gear is simply as good as anybody else's while some pieces are rather unique pieces of gear. Just look at wired tri-cams, or, more recently, check out the new technical aid gear. What you actually see is that Mr. Rybak always looks at the things little differently. He knows that there is a number of strong brands that make really nice and shiny gear. He knows that he can't compete with those guys and he doesn't even want that.  ViaMont is a small business that really wants to stay small. Its size gives ViaMont flexibility in what it does and how it does it. The core idea of the whole business is to provide high quality climbing gear to make hundreds of climbers happy. ViaMont even manufactures customized gear on request. Just recently, ViaMont has supplied 18,000 stoppers to a client in Switzerland. Well, that is the advantage of being small. You can do what you really need to do. And that is what ViaMont has been doing since the first stopper was made.
